Abubakar, Zainab Suleiman (Mrs) is the Deputy Director and Head of the Information Communication and Technology Unit of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW). She had her primary education at Fatima Private School Jos, Plateau State, and secondary school education at the Federal Government Girls’ College, Bauchi, before she proceeded to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, also in Bauchi State. She graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Science.
Abubakar Zainab was deployed to the Management Information Unit of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna, Nigeria to serve her Country. In her meritorious service, she was retained as one of the pioneering Staff of the Unit of the University as a Computer Programmer Officer from 1995 before resigning to join her husband in Sapele-Delta State.
Abubakar Zainab started her Federal Civil Service career as a Computer Analyst with the Federal Civil Service Commission. As Principal Programme Analyst in the Economic Research and Policy Management Department of the Federal Ministry of Finance, she was part of the Job Creation Committee for the Federation. She was the Head of ICT in the Federal Ministry’s namely Finance, Power and Petroleum Resources. She has attended several technical and management development courses locally and at international levels.
And as an Assistant Director, she was deployed to the National Agency for the Great Green Wall to set up and Head the Information Communication and Technology Unit. Abubakar Zainab took part in developing several policy documents within the Agency.
She was amongst the inaugural 50 (Cohort-1) winners of the class of 2021 recipients of the Africa Initiative Governance (AIG) Leaders Programme academic scholarship awarded to public servants committed to restoring excellence within the Nigeria Public Service in collaboration with the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government.
She is a member of several professional bodies, including the Computer Professional of Nigeria, the Institute of Management Consultants, and the Cyber security experts Association of Nigeria. She is an Oracle Certified Professional.
Zainab is happily married with children; her hobbies include reading, gardening, and watching films.
