Aliyu Abdullahi Baba

Aliyu Abdullahi Baba is a dedicated and results-driven Economist and Public administrator with over two decades of experience in Public Finance, Administration, and International economic relations.

He currently serves as Assistant Director and Head of the Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Unit at the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) under the Federal Ministry of Environment, where he leads institutional reform efforts aimed at improving operational efficiency and policy alignment. Mr. Baba began his career in 2001 as a Planning Officer with the Niger State Ministry of Finance, where he was responsible for budget preparation and project monitoring.

He was later employed to the Federal Civil Service in the year 2006 under the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation as an Administrative officer and was posted to the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, he served in the Human Resources Department with a focus on appointment, promotion, and discipline processes from 2010 to 2025. In the year 2010, he was posted to the Federal Ministry of Finance, where he served in the Africa Bilateral Economic Relations Division (Bilateral Unit), in the International Economic Relations Department. There, he negotiated concessionary funding for development projects and represented Nigeria in high-level international engagements, including the Committee of Fifteen Ministers of Finance (F15) at the African Union and bilateral meetings with the European Union and other Bilateral and multilateral organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics (Second Class Upper) from Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and a Diploma in Public Accounts and Audit from the College of Administrative and Business Studies, Bida. Mr. Baba is highly skilled in public policy, negotiations, critical thinking, and the use of Microsoft Office tools. In his free time, he enjoys football, reading, and traveling.
