Director, Rural Development & Extension Services (RDES)

His educational background shows a Masters’ Degree in Remote Sensing Application and a B.Sc. Ed. Combined Degree in Geography. He boasts professional experiences reflecting the schedule of duties assigned to him up to the present and the achievements recorded.

As a pioneer staff of the Ministry and the Agency, he participated in developing numerous Policy Documents on Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought (DLDD) and Climate Change. He was also part of the team that developed the first "Nigerian National State of Environment Report, 2008". He participated in developing the "National Strategic Action Plan for the Implementation of the Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel Initiative (GGWSSI) 2012", which is the guide for Projects and Programmes implementation.

As Head of the Division in the Department of Drought and Desertification Amelioration (DDDA), he developed the Concept Notes and supervised the Consultants that carried out the "Development of Drought Early Warning System in Nigeria (Phases I & II) 2012 & 2013", respectively. He further developed the Concept Note for "Action Against Desertification": Nigeria's Component for the National Agency for the Great Green Wall Programme in 2015. Also, under the GEF-7, he developed the initial Expression of Interest Template for Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration Impact Programme. He is at the forefront for the development of numerous Projects/Programmes seeking international partners support for the Ministry and the National Agency for the Great Green Wall; the most recent is "Land Restoration and Rehabilitation for Improved Economic Activities in Borno and Yobe States."

As Director, Rural Development & Extension Services (RDES), he coordinates supervision, monitoring and evaluation of Projects/Programmes in the eleven (11) Frontline and eight (8) Buffer States, and develops Programmes on Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN), Sand and Dust Storms, which are immerging issues on land degradation management. He is a key player in numerous inter-ministerial and inter-agency partnership and collaborative initiatives.

He has undertaken several domestic and foreign training in many fields of endeavour that have put him in good stead and enhanced his productivity.  

Mhusaya Chindaba has served in nearly all the Professional Departments of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW). Presently, he is the Director of the Department of Rural Development and Extension Services and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Geographers.
