Engr. Mukhtar Ahmad PhD, is an Assistant Director (Engineering) and Heads the Kano Operational Office, (KOO). He is a registered Engineer and sustainability professional with expertise in sustainable development strategy, committed to delivering practical and scalable solutions to environmental and climate related challenges.
Between 2019 and 2025, He served as the State Coordinator/Field Officer, Kano, providing field leadership in programme implementation, stakeholder coordination and community-based climate resilience initiatives, while strengthening multi-level engagement in sustainable land management and climate action.
He holds a B.Eng. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Maiduguri (2006), a Master’s degree in Information Technology from the American University of Nigeria (2014) and an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Venture Management from Bayero University Kano (2019). He also holds a PhD in Sustainable Development from the University of Abuja. (2023–2026), with research interests in climate resilience, green growth and sustainable finance.
His professional engagements include renewable energy deployment, climate change mitigation initiatives and carbon sequestration strategies.
Engr. Mukhtar is a member of key professional bodies, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), and the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE).
He has participated in major international climate engagements under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) across Europe, the Middle East and South America, as well as the SBSTA (Bonn, 2023), and executive sustainability programmes at Kellogg College, University of Oxford, UK. (2025).
