Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Unit

The Information and Communication Technology Unit (ICTU) is a critical component of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, working tirelessly to support and advance the objectives of the Great Green Wall Initiative through innovative technology. As a technological backbone, the Unit is vital in efficiently managing data, communication, and information dissemination, which is essential to the initiative’s success. The ICTU is under the direct supervision of the Director-General of the Agency. To achieve its objectives, the ICTU collaborates with other departments within the Agency, as well as with external partners and stakeholders.

Mission: The ICTU leverages technology to support Nigeria’s Great Green Wall Initiative in its fight against desertification, land degradation, and climate change. It offers solutions, data insights, and communication channels to amplify the initiative’s impact and reach.

 

Function:/Mandate

1.    ICT Infrastructure Management: The Unit is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the Agency’s information and communication technology infrastructure, including managing hardware, software, and Wide and Local Area networks to ensure uninterrupted operations.

2.    Data Management and Analysis: One of the main functions of the ICTU is to collect, store, and analyze vast datasets related to the Great Green Wall Initiative, including environmental data, progress reports, and other relevant information required for informed decision-making.

3.    Information Dissemination: The ICTU is responsible for disseminating accurate and timely information about the Great Green Wall project to engage stakeholders and ensure transparency.

4.    Cybersecurity: As digital data becomes increasingly critical, the ICTU is responsible for safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring data security and privacy through robust cybersecurity measures. 

5.    Online Presence: The ICTU manages the Great Green Wall Initiative’s online presence, including its website and social media profiles.
