ISAH ABUBAKAR SADIQ

Acting Director, Afforestation and Land Management

Isah Abubakar Sadiq is the Acting Director of Resource Mobilization and Partnership Building of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) Nigeria. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto and a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

Isah Abubakar was employed as Forest Officer II with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources in October 1991. He was posted to Katsina /European Economic Community (EEC) supported Afforestation program from 1991-1993. He was later assigned to Sokoto Environmental Protection Program/ European Economic Community (EEC) from 1993-1996 as an Afforestation Manager in Kaura Namoda and Wurno LGAs in the then Sokoto State. He was transferred back to the Federal Department of Forestry from 1996-1999 and later moved along with the Department of Planning Research and Statistics from 2000-2004 when the Federal Ministry of Environment was established. Isah Abubakar was redeployed to the Department of Drought and Desertification, where he remained and rose to the position of Assistant Director.

He was posted to the erstwhile Interim National Agency for the Great Green Wall in November 2014. He became a pioneer staff of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall when an Act of the National Assembly established it in May 2015. He was promoted to the post of Deputy Director in the Agency with effect from January 2021. He served variously as Assistant Director of Afforestation, Head of Afforestation and Land Management in 2019, Deputy Director of Afforestation and Land Management, and Deputy Director of Rural Development and Extension Services.
