Mr. Saleh Abubakar is a seasoned and accomplished public servant with 35 years of dedicated civil service experience. Throughout his illustrious career, he has held pivotal roles across various departments and ministries within the Borno and Yobe State Governments. His expertise spans administrative leadership, policy development, civil service reforms, and government operations management. A commitment to professionalism, efficiency, and the implementation of impactful reforms marks his tenure in the civil service.

 

Saleh Abubakar’s educational journey began at the Central Primary School in Gashua, where he completed his First School Leaving Certificate in 1972. He then went on to General Murtala College in Yola, where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1977. He continued his academic pursuits and attended the School of Basic Studies at Ahmadu Bello University in 1978. His educational journey culminated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1982.

Saleh Abubakar’s illustrious career began in 1983 when he assumed the role of Assistant Secretary at the Governor’s office in Borno State. Over the years, he progressed to positions of increasing responsibility, including Director of Political Affairs and Director of Admin and General Services at the Governor’s Office in Yobe State. He also served as Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Governor’s Office and the Ministry of Land and Survey, contributing significantly to staff appointments, discipline, and civil service reforms. His tenure as Permanent Secretary and Chief of Staff at the Yobe State Government House from 2007 to 2017 showcased his exceptional leadership and managerial abilities. Later, he assumed the pivotal role of Head of the Civil Service in Yobe State Government, where he played a critical role in managing the civil service and addressing the challenges of technology integration.

 

In addition to his extensive professional accomplishments, Saleh Abubakar possesses an array of valuable skills, including speech writing, negotiation, talent scouting, and sporting acumen. Beyond his professional pursuits, he enjoys cycling, reading, photography and golf.
